IT WAS MERRY AND BRIGHT .....

... bright and early that is!  Jack and Evie woke in the wee hours of Christmas morning, I'm talking still dark, opened all their Santa presents and then went back to sleep until daylight ...

 

Freddie must have known something exciting was going on as he woke early too!  We spent Christmas with Brett's family, about 30 of us for 3 nights ... it was lots of fun without any dramas .... great food, lovely presents, lots of laughs and fun for everyone ... I would love to know how many loads the dishwasher did and how many beer bottle tops were picked up, not to mention the amount of coffees made and the quantitly of rubbish taken away ...

 

... I loved the excitement on their faces as they pulled out their Santa stash and proudly displayed each item ...

 

 

... Jack was extremely happy with his ripstick and new crocs ... another favourite was Monopoly City ...

 

... Evie liked her Littlest Pet Shop set up ...

 

 

... and Freddie was so excited with his big red car that he couldn't even wait for Dad to put it together ...

 

... eagerly awaiting the present opening after breakfast ...

 

 

 

 

... we all received lovely gifts .... this was followed by a huge lunch ...

 

... and then my favourite part of the day, dessert .... the afternoon was spent relaxing with a late game of cricket ...

... cousin Ben received this game for Christmas which was a huge hit with the kids ... 

 

... so another Christmas over, we arrived home yesterday afternoon ... Jack and Evie were keen to unpack their new goodies .... now the fun part of scrapbooking all the photos and recording the details before they are forgotten!!

DAY 23 AND NEVER AGAIN ...

.... today, after a busy day in town and another trip to the doctor ... Freddie has school sores ... what started as a stubbed toe has grown (like wildfire) into festering school sores ... we arrived home and started to make our gingerbread house .... you know, Donna Hay has a lot to answer for ... she made it sound soooooooooo easy in the step-by-step instructions ... didn't help that I actually dropped the back slab of the house ....

... yes that is Brett with the cordless power drill ... and yes, I'm quite sure that ours is the only gingerbread house that actually had to be screwed together ... but we persevered and kept building ...

 

 

 

 

 

 

... I'm thinking that Hansel and Gretel could be a little tempted to drop in .... let me tell you, there is a truck load of icing happening on this little house, we were using it like no more gaps ... Jack and Evie are pretty excited about eating it on Christmas day, I've consumed enough lollies to last me a while!  Haven't finished my journal page, next on the TO DO list.

a layout about my wish list for this year .... my very own Alice .... new camera ... day spa voucher .... perfume top up ... new handbag ... beach holiday ... summer shift dress ... sunglasses .... it would be awfully nice to find one of those items in my stocking on Christmas morning.

Not sure I will make it back here before Christmas ... wishing you a fabulous few days with family and friends ... look forward to catching up on everyone's news next week ... I am making a  B I G effort this year to capture some decent photos, all the little details that I always overlook ....

DAY 22 AND 3 MORE SLEEPS ...

... two highlights today .... firstly Evie and I made rumballs ...

 

they actually turned out quite well and we packaged them into egg cartons (thanks Donna Hay) ...

 

added some scrapbooking paper to the top of the cartons and finished off with a big bow ..

 

... I think that a dozen rumballs is a lot more fun than a dozen eggs ... Day 22 nude ...

 ... the vintage Merry Christmas card is from October Afternoon ... Freddie was quite grumpy this afternoon so we tied a Christmas bow around his neck ready for purchase!!!!

 

No takers ... his yoghurt eating skills might have something to do with that ....

 

.... he is quite a gifted finger painter I am thinking.

The second highlight of today was that Evie advanced to Junior squad in swimming, caught up to Jack .... she has improved so much since the start of the season and I must say that I was surprised that she was asked to try out for Junior but she made it ... so proud and so is Evie ....

... today the kids had to earn their Christmas spending money and help Brett do some cattle work ...

DAYS 18,19 AND 20 OF MY DECEMBER DAILY JOURNAL ....

... it has been a busy couple of days .... the birthday festivities are over, Evie had a great day ...

 

 

 

we had a bit of a photo shoot in the afternoon so that the girls had some photos for  scrapbooking ... the day was finished off with an ice cream cake and birthday wishes ...

I added some Heidi Swapp stickers, a Hambly rub on label, Mambi tab sticker and some MM word fetti stickers ... yesterday after Evie's friend went home, Jack and Evie spent the day putting together Evie's lego present ...

 

her and Jack often play lego, but on his terms ... nice for her to have her very own lego that she can keep in her room .... they had lots of fun building until a lego plane crashed into the house!!!

SHE IS 9 TODAY ...

 

... in the blink of an eye Evie has gone from Dark & Stormy, her nickname as a toddler, to a Hannah Montana obsessed 9 year old ... she is very grown up these days ... loves school and all her friends .... loves to be the centre of attention and is a bit of a drama queen ... loves all things girly ... still likes to play Barbies and Littlest Pet Shop .... but also likes to play cars and lego with Jack .... loves to sing and dance ... she is carefree and says it like it is ... she is gorgeous! Today she has a friend over for a sleepover and gets to rule the roost for 24 hours ...

opening a gift this morning ... extremely happy with her silver bangle from Gran and Darra .... she was up at 5:30 not wanting to miss any of her special day ....

making the most of her day!

December Daily update ... Wednesday Day 16, nothing special, a long day in town with 3 kids .... Evie did wash the car when we got home which is pretty  extrememly rare ...

INTERRUPTING THE DECEMBER DAILY JOURNAL FOR A LAYOUT SHARE ...

.... gorgeous goodies from October Afternoon ....   

I know that you are most likely NOT going to believe me BUT I had forgotten that I had these papers on preorder when we made gingerbread men and then they arrived and I immediately knew that these photos would be perfect for those papers and stickers ....

 

each of the 3 pattern papers are reversable which makes them even better (if that is possible) ... still adding my photos and words to my December Daily journal, will share soon ... thanks for stopping by and if you haven't made gingerbread men yet, now you have good reason to ... night, night! 

DAYS 11, 12, 13, 14 AND 15 ....

... that's quite a catch up isn't it?!?  On Friday we packed up (it seemed like everything BUT the kitchen sink) and drove to Glen Lyon Dam for a weekend on the water ... the excuse was to celebrate Greg's 50th (married to Jill, Brett's sister) ... lots of family, fun and food ...

fabulous 3 days .... Jack and Evie did not stop the entire weekend, they were soooo tired on Saturday night that they went to bed without dinner!

DAY 10 AND A LAYOUT SHARE ....

... remember the headbands that we made for the school fair?  Well they were a big hit and I really enjoyed making them ....decided to make some more for Christmas gifts ...

 

 

 

... all was going well until our little town ran out of plain headbands and glue gun refills ... off to the big smoke next week so will need to replenish then ... here is my journal page nude ...
